Angela Thomas
Private Voice Teacher
Mezzo-Soprano
As a young child, Angela was often found singing or humming. In school and at home, Angela began spending an increasing amount of time singing, which soon became a source of joy despite extensive financial and domestic hardships. More than a hobby, music became a safe place for self-expression, personal development, success, and confidence. Hindered by financial limitations, Angela wouldn’t be able to pursue a formal music education until much later in life. When finally presented with the opportunity to study music formally, Angela had a family and three young children. Driven by her love of music, Angela balanced work, family, and school, accomplishing amazing academic feats that earned her several awards, including the “All-State Academic Team” and several collegiate honors.
As a teacher, Angela believes that music is a skill that can be learned through dedicated study. She holds that personal investment in each student is paramount for educational success. As such, she approaches teaching with compassion and understanding, resulting in a learning environment founded on safety and respect. Angela believes in a progressive approach to teaching, through which information and skills are scaffolded, thereby promoting student confidence, engagement, and musical exploration.
