Private Voice Teacher
Mezzo-Soprano
As a typical child, I spent a great deal of time playing with toys, riding my bike, and using my imagination. But strung throughout these memories is a consistent thread: music. As a young child, I often sang or hummed while engaging in daily tasks. (And often, without realizing I was doing it). As I grew, I found myself singing more and more. Whether at school, church, or play, I found myself seeking opportunities to sing. I spent my school years immersed in various forms of vocal performance. Music became a significant source of joy for me and a means of coping through extensive financial and domestic hardships. More than a hobby, music became a safe place for self-expression, personal development, success, and confidence. Although I had developed a deep love for music and performance, financial limitations had inhibited me from pursuing a formal music education. The years following school, I absorbed myself in various forms of vocal performance, including musical theater, community choir, church music, and vocal competitions. During this time, I also began directing youth ensembles within a number of holiday productions. After some time, the opportunity to formally study music emerged. By this time, I was married with three young children. Motivated by my passion for music, I dedicated long hours to balancing the demands of work, family, and school. I graduated with my Bachelor's in vocal performance in 2020, and then went on to earn my Master's in music education in 2025. While studying music, I earned several collegiate honors, including earning a place on the "All-State Academic Team."
As a teacher, I believe that music is a skill that can be learned through dedicated study. I hold the belief that personal investment in each student is paramount for educational success. As such, I approach teaching with compassion and understanding, resulting in a learning environment founded on safety and respect. I believe in a progressive approach to teaching, through which information and skills are scaffolded, thereby promoting student confidence, engagement, and musical exploration.
