Adult Lessons

Whether you are looking to train for a career in voice or for personal enrichment, your lessons are uniquely designed with your goals in mind.

Understanding how the voice functions is fundamental to gaining control of the sound it produces. For this reason, lessons are approached from a scientific and functional methodology. Throughout lessons, students are introduced to the four fundamental concepts of voice: inhalation, air usage/support, phonation, and resonance. As new skills are introduced, students are guided through exercises that aid in mastery of each new concept. Skills are then applied to songs, through which students will work through authentic vocal challenges.

Each lesson is highly personalized with purposefully selected exercises and repertoire to aid in individual growth. Students are encouraged to participate in selecting music that is engaging and meaningful. This progressive approach works to build on the student's previous knowledge in order to foster confidence and facilitate student success. Throughout lessons, students can expect to experience improvement in sound quality, vocal strength, vocal endurance, range, and health, among other skills.

If desired, music theory and sight-singing may be included in lessons for students seeking a deeper understanding of music and composition. Sight-singing will aid students in pitch accuracy, harmony, and music-reading skills. Whereas music theory provides students with deeper musical understanding, expressiveness, and compositional skills.
